As I began thinking about my units I do with my students during this time of year, I wanted to change it up a bit. My mind started whirling of engaging ways to teach procedural text using technology. So I have created my first in three installments of how to teach procedural texts using holiday craftivities. The first unit I made was one using Halloween crafts and recipes. Students will spend at least a week analyzing and exploring the text structure of procedural texts while creating cute crafts. Once they seem to have an understanding of the text structure, students can create this cute little fellow and then explain the procedure through writing. Of course, I have a lot more fantastic ideas you can do with your students with and without technology to teach procedural text. If you'd like to learn more about how I integrated technology, head on over to Technology Tailgate to learn about the apps I used or click on the picture below to check out the whole 2 week unit.
